JFC Announces Interim Executive Director
HALIFAX N.S., February 3, 2015 – The Board of Directors for Jazz Festivals Canada (JFC), a national arts service organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura ‘Lulu’ Healy as Interim Executive Director. Rainbow Robert, who held the Executive Director position for the past 10 years, has taken temporary leave from the organization in order to take on the exciting new challenge of programming the Guelph Jazz Festival for a one year term. Ms. Robert will also continue with her role as Manager of Artistic Programming for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

She brings to the organization a wealth of regional, national, and international experience in the jazz presenting sector and it’s easy to tell she has a passion for her work and the development of the jazz community as a whole” says Petr Cancura, newly elected President of the Board of Directors for Jazz Festivals Canada.
Ms. Healy is currently the Artistic Director of the Halifax Jazz Festival and has been programming and producing all of the organization’s concerts and educational workshops for the past 8 years. She sits on the board of directors for the Canadian Presenters Association (CAPACOA), is an advocate for promoting, nurturing and growing the Canadian music industry and is an active mentor to emerging musicians in her own community. Prior to her work in the music industry, Ms. Healy completed both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Social Anthropology at Dalhousie University. “The JFC network has been instrumental to my own professional development and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to work more closely with my colleagues from across the country to strengthen the Canadian jazz presenting sector.”

Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse, le 3 février 2015 – Le Conseil d’administration de Jazz Festivals Canada (JFC), une organisation nationale au service des arts, a l’honneur de vous annoncer la nomination de Laura « Lulu » Healy au poste de directrice générale par intérim. Mme Rainbow Robert, qui occupait ce poste ces dix dernières années, a décidé de s’absenter pendant un an afin de relever un nouveau défi : celui de la programmation du Festival de Jazz de Guelph. Mme Roberts continuera aussi sa mission en tant que responsable de la programmation artistique du Festival international de Jazz de Vancouver.

Elle apporte à l’organisation sa riche expérience de présentatrice de jazz tant au niveau régional, que national et international. Sa passion pour son travail et le développement de toute la communauté du jazz est évidente » a déclaré Petr Cancura, le nouveau président élu du conseil d’administration de Jazz Festivals Canada.
Mme Healy est présentement la directrice artistique du Festival de jazz de Halifax. Depuis 8 ans, elle œuvre à la programmation et à la production de concerts et d’ateliers pédagogiques organisés par le Festival de Halifax. Elle est membre du conseil d’administration de l’Association canadienne des organismes artistiques (CAPACOA). Elle est active dans la promotion et le soutien de l’industrie musicale canadienne notamment en tant que mentor pour les musiciens émergeants de sa communauté. Avant d’être impliquée dans le domaine musical, Mme Healy a obtenu un Baccalauréat en arts et une Maitrise en anthropologie sociale à l’université Dalhousie. « Le réseau JFC m’a beaucoup aidé dans mon propre développement professionnel et je suis honorée d’avoir la chance de pouvoir travailler en collaboration étroite avec mes collègues de tout le pays et de pouvoir renforcer le secteur de la programmation jazz au Canada. »
